Artist name Lichens cover Robert Lowe, who plays bass and sings in post-prog-rock geniuses 90 Day Men and recently worked on the upcoming album with TV On The Radio. Lowe has released an Lichens CD-R on their own, but The Psychic Nature of Being is his official solo debut. The CD features three tracks, all of which are recorded as improvisations in one take, and of which the shortest is barely ten minutes far. The main component of the music is looped wordless vocals that take the form of drones and reinforce each other to create slowly undulating ambient lydhave. Across these plays Lowe on guitar - both acoustic and some electric - and in one place too simple percussion, which helps give the music variation, melody and momentum. The term is hypnotic and relaxed and encourages one to let the mind wander freely or to completely turn the little gray on stand-by. The Psychic rimark Nature of Being slightly lo-fi in places of production, but nice focused musical and a quite fascinating rimark acquaintance.
