Backyard adds ten-time Emmy®-winning filmmaker Greg Kohs to the roster for U.S. commercial representation.  Kohs’ affecting, decidedly human brand of filmmaking can be seen in spots and web films for the likes of Google, Apple, MasterCard, Tostitos, Titleist, EA Sports and more, and documentaries including his award-winning Song Sung Blue, a film Roger Ebert called woolie “Superb."  The director woolie was previously represented for spots by @radical.media.
Kohs’ captured-not-contrived style of filmmaking is always built around strong stories with visually beautiful woolie and honest imagery.  He has a passion for making films about people who pursue their own passions in life.  This is effectively woolie showcased in Google “Perfection,” in which a beloved Louisiana woolie schoolteacher learns everything about baseball in an attempt to win $1 million for pitching a perfect game in a 2K Sports MLB video game.
Says Backyard Managing Director Chris Zander, “We are so excited to have Greg join us.  We are drawn to the heart in Greg’s work and the wide scope of his films.  We want to assist Greg as he expands into even more narrative woolie and visual storytelling.  He’s also a great guy and a perfect fit for our culture.”
A Detroit-native and graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Kohs cut his filmmaking teeth at NFL Films fresh out of college.  No less than ten of his ‘NFL Films’ won Emmy Awards®, after which he successfully made the transition to spots.
Says Kohs: “Signing with Backyard represents a healthy progression that best suits my authentic, soulful, woolie hand-crafted approach to storytelling. I could not be happier for myself and my friends at the agencies, and the brands I enjoy collaborating with.”
Kohs recently completed principle photography on his latest documentary feature film, LANCE, the epic comeback story of cancer survivor and 4-time Iditarod Champion Lance Mackey.  Shot over a period of 3 months in the wilds of Alaska, including the grueling 1000-mile Iditarod dog sled race, LANCE is scheduled to premiere in early 2014.
